Rehabilitation Services

Veterinary rehabilitation combines clinical expertise with hands-on care to support healing, restore function, and improve quality of life.

Acupuncture

A gentle, widely used complementary therapy based on traditional Chinese medicine.

Fine needles are placed into specific points on the body to stimulate the nervous system, helping to:

  • Reduce pain and inflammation

  • Improve nerve function

  • Support healing and recovery

Many patients find acupuncture deeply relaxing, with noticeable improvements in comfort and mobility.

Exercise Therapy

Exercise therapy is a key part of rehabilitation, recovery, and performance conditioning. Carefully prescribed therapeutic exercises can also support ageing pets, improve performance, and assist with long-term pain management.

Shockwave Therapy

We use portable radial pressure wave technology to treat a range of musculoskeletal conditions.

Shockwave therapy is particularly effective for:

  • Soft tissue injuries

  • Tendon and ligament issues

  • Bone-related pain and delayed healing

This non-invasive treatment works by stimulating blood flow and encouraging the body’s natural healing response.

Custom orthotics and prosthetics

Custom orthotics and prosthetics can provide life-changing support for pets with mobility challenges, limb deformities, neurological conditions, or injuries.

The Rehab Vet works closely with Pawthotics to facilitate access to customised orthotic and prosthetic solutions, helping improve comfort, stability, mobility and overall quality of life for pets required specialised support.

Manual Therapy

Hands-on treatment designed to restore movement and reduce discomfort.

Manual therapy techniques can:

  • Improve joint mobility

  • Relieve muscle tension

  • Reduce pain

  • Enhance overall movement and function

Many pets experience immediate improvements in comfort and range of motion following treatment

Pain Management Consults

Our pain management consults focus on a multi-modal approach, combining different therapies to achieve better outcomes.

Pain can affect pets in many different ways, with symptoms varying from animal to animal. At The Rehab Vet, we understand that chronic and acute pain are complex and often involve a combination of peripheral tissue pathology, neuromuscular dysfunction, and changes in central pain processing — and no single therapy addresses all of these components effectively.

Together, we create an individualised treatment plan using a range of tools including rehabilitation, manual therapy, acupuncture, shockwave therapy, therapeutic exercise, and medication support where appropriate. By targeting pain from multiple angles, we aim to improve comfort, restore function, support mobility, and enhance your pet’s overall quality of life.

“I truly believe Renate and her acupuncture treatments gave me six more years with my beautiful boy, Bear. At just six years old, his arthritis had become so bad I thought I’d have to say goodbye—but after one session with Renate, he was like a puppy again. She gave Bear his life back.”

“After Toby was diagnoses with calcification in his spine his quality of life dipped dramatically as he was unable to do simple actives like jump into his bed. I was recommended acupuncture by my K9 hydro therapist and the results were instant! After 3 months his muscle twinges have all disappeared.”

“Thanks to Renate, our heading dog Mya went from struggling to walk to back working stock with enthusiasm. The rehab care was incredible – professional, thorough, and life-changing”
